SLTWTR, Inc. is a remote-first development partner specializing in Shopify builds for lifestyle-inspired brands. The Senior Frontend Engineer will craft high-performance, scalable front-end experiences across SLTWTR’s Shopify ecosystem, emphasizing vanilla JavaScript, web components, and minimal dependencies. You will contribute to SLTWTR’s evolving component library, collaborate with Product Owners, designers, and backend engineers, and translate high-touch brand experiences into precise, reusable code. The role supports client projects with a focus on quality, efficiency, and consistent frontend standards while advancing our internal engineering practices and storefront capabilities.

What you’ll do

Own the architecture and implementation of dynamic, high-performance front-end logic and UI behavior, crafting features from scratch with vanilla JavaScript and web components; leverage frameworks where appropriate (e.g., Redux) to ensure robust state management.
Build and maintain reusable front-end systems and components (e.g., cart logic, filtering, modals, accordions, animations) to support scalable projects and reduce technical debt.
Execute precise Shopify frontend work using Liquid, metafields, and Shopify APIs; ensure consistent templates, data modeling, and responsive behavior; collaborate with backend engineers on data flow and dynamic rendering.
Collaborate in sprint planning with Product Owners and Solutions Architect to define, estimate, and deliver stories with clear technical acceptance criteria; translate designs into pixel-precise interfaces.
Uphold SLTWTR’s code quality and frontend consistency through peer reviews, documentation, and performance profiling (Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse); maintain low post-deployment defect rates.

Required skills and experience

5+ years of frontend development with strong vanilla JavaScript expertise; proven ability to architect and build UI logic with and without frameworks.
Solid understanding of browser APIs, state management, DOM performance, and modern frontend tooling.
Proficiency in Shopify theme development (Liquid, metafields, Storefront API) and experience delivering custom storefront features.
Experience with performance profiling, debugging, and optimization; comfortable working independently in a remote, sprint-based environment.
Excellent collaboration skills, ability to translate complex requirements into clean, maintainable code, and a passion for delivering high-quality user experiences.

Nice to have

Experience with React or Vue is a plus, but the role emphasizes vanilla JavaScript and web components.
Interest in or experience with design systems, component libraries, and frontend architecture decisions.
Familiarity with performance optimization and accessibility best practices.
