You’ll be joining a team at JGRP, a boutique software agency known for building reliable, thoughtfully crafted web applications for nonprofits, educational institutions, and startups.

The project you’ll work on is a large ASP.NET MVC application with Razor views and a jQuery/Bootstrap frontend, reliability, consistency, and thoughtful improvements matter a lot. You’ll be working closely with our backend developers and project managers to ensure the UI is responsive, functional, and bug-free.

Job functions

This role is about owning the frontend experience of a Razor Pages-based system. You’ll focus on layout bugs, JavaScript interactions, browser inconsistencies, and markup tied to C# ViewModels. This isn't a React job — it's about working in an environment where frontend and backend are tightly coupled.

You’ll:

  • Review and fix UI bugs and layout inconsistencies
  • Refactor or simplify jQuery-heavy components for clarity and stability
  • Polish Bootstrap-based styling across responsive breakpoints
  • Collaborate with backend developers to ensure accurate data binding to views
  • Participate in code reviews and QA checks
  • Flag areas for improvement and propose solutions

Success will be measured by:

  • Consistency and reliability of your bug fixes
  • How well you handle edge cases and test your changes
  • Clear communication about what’s broken, fixed, and still pending
  • Keeping changes tightly scoped and production-safe

Qualifications and requirements

We’re looking for a senior frontend developer who can confidently work within a legacy ASP.NET MVC application and improve the UI without introducing regressions or breaking business logic. The ideal candidate should have:

Core Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional frontend development experience
  • Strong jQuery skills with experience working in large, DOM-heavy applications
  • Solid understanding of ASP.NET Razor Views and ViewModel (@model) binding patterns
  • Excellent command of Bootstrap 4/5, especially for layout, responsiveness, and cross-device consistency
  • Proficiency with Git and frontend debugging tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools)
  • Fluent English writing and speaking skills are a must — you’ll be expected to communicate clearly with the team and document your work as needed

You should be comfortable doing the following:

  • Debugging Razor Pages by mapping rendered HTML to the correct ViewModel
  • Fixing layout inconsistencies across screen sizes and devices
  • Resolving broken JavaScript or jQuery interactivity issues
  • Diagnosing whether a bug is caused by CSS, JS, or backend data logic

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience working in large, legacy codebases
  • Familiarity with jQuery plugins like Toastr and Select2
  • A sharp eye for UI/UX details such as spacing, alignment, and hierarchy
  • Understanding of how ViewState, POST/GET binding, and form submission flows work in .NET MVC
  • Comfort with backend logic in C# — enough to trace data flow, spot issues, or assist with backend fixes when needed
